Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs Screaning Review

1. Relate what was discussed in class or the text to the screening.

-Show White and the Seven Dwarfs was Walt Disneys first animated full length feauture. Disney's animated feature was the first to ever premier on color. This was a huge success for Walt Disney when it premiered in 1937 at the Cartney Circle Theater. No film in including animated features had color during that time.

2. Find a related article (on the film, director, studio, actor/actress, artisitc content, etc.) and summerize the content. You may use the library or the internet.

-Snow White and Seven Dwarfs is the original German fairy tale by the Brother Girimm. Disney desided to take that story and make it his first full length feature. Many of his relatives told him thatno one was going to sit through a full length cartoon but that did not stop him. Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs premiered in Hollywood on december 21, 1937, it received a standing ovation from the audience. It wasnt until february 1938 that it was released to the public earning it $8 million, which was a great amount during the Great Depression.

3. Apply the article to the film screened in class. How did the article support or change the way you thought about the film, director, content, etc.

-The article helped me realize the popularity of Snow White and why it was such a big deal in Hollywood. The content in the article described how the film was such a break out and a huge success to Walt Disney. He did what no other film director had thought of and the article explains how even his wife thought it was impossible and how it wasnt going to be successful. But that did not dicourage him and because of that the animated feature became a part of film history.

4. Write a critical analysis of the film, including your personal opinion, formed as a result of the screening, class discussions, text material and the article. I am less interested in whether you liked or disliked a film, (although that can be part of this) than I am in your understanding of this place in film history or the contribution of the director.

-This was the first time I've ever seen Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs. I also never knew it was part of film history. After viewing the film and leaning about Walt Disney, I understand, now, why it's history. Disney thought of the unthinkable, he took color and put in a full lengh animation. That was the first ever in the film and animation industry.
